Ignition Coil fault and bad starter

Me and my husband purchased our car back in January with a three month warranty, since the warranty has run out we incurred a problem - the car told us to "check emissions" and then started being really sluggish. We took it to a garage and they told us it needed a no 4 ignition coil so we had that replaced (Even though the history shows this is the 4th one!!) however, 2 weeks later the same message has come up again and the car started cutting out on me when at traffic lights etc. I took it to another garage today and they told me the same problem. Surely the coils last more that an fortnight!!! The garage have said they need the car in to run more tests as they think something else is triggering this off? please help

It is possible water is getting in causing damage. One other remote possibility is that particular cylinder has a wrong or duff spark plug. Do you know if the spark plugs were replaced (as recommended) when the new coil was fitted
