i hasd a similar problem with my laggy2 after i bought it.
the winder inner core (long spring with bristles in) broke away from the white clip that connects to the glass.

i got a replacement runner unit minus the motor, which i didnt need as mine was ok for 20, it was 30 with motor.
not too hard to replace, thanks to those bril pdf's on how to fix it...

Okay here's an update so far.

I managed to remove the entire car panel trim with help from the Haynes manual

I found that the window had become unhooked from the round lug on the window guide which is why it wasn't going down. I know that there should be some plastic clip on the window guide as well, so I looked around the inside of the door and found this white clip which had fallen off. The white clip though is snapped where the hole is, although it's possible to glue it back together.

Temporary fix for me, I mounted the glass back onto the window guide, and no idea how the plastic clip fit, so I've kind of shoved it below the window where the guide is, I'm sure if I slam my door it will fall out, so a new clip is probably required.

Can anyone show me how the actualy clip is meant to sit on my clio? As I have no idea, it looks different to what is in Haynes.

Thanks for your input, the car window now works, but I gotta be careful with it.
