Card Reader Problem

I have a 2004 Espace when driving a clicking sound comes from the card reader every now and then. When i pull over stop the car and remove the key card the noise continues (The engine stops ok when start/stop pressed) if i replace the key it is not recognised and will also not lock the car when button pressed. After a few mins the clicking sound stops and the key works fine again. The same happens with the spare key.I have removed the card reader and cleaned it with air can i use on lap top keyboard but no joy.I have found a used card reader from a Laguna on Ebay is this the same as the Espace it looks the same when removed from the front panel and will i have to have it programed to my keys.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Not too sure if the two readers are the same as I've never tried interchanging them.
As for the programming, it isn't needed. The card readers are just plug and play.
