Scenic II - Lost key - Have correct blade - Immobiliser problem

Dear All

Great forum - very informative. Have looked through plenty of threads but cannot seem to see the solution to the problem I have.

Have lost the only key to my wife's 2002 Scenic. Have been down to Renault to order a new key for it today and it is going to be another 10-14 days before it eventually gets sorted and will involve getting the car recovered to the garage.

Basically, it would be massively handy to use the car in the meantime. I have a spare key with the correct blade in it which turns the ignition (long story - bought it from Fleabay before I learnt that you can only get a duplicate key to work if it is supplied by a Renault dealer, etc, etc). This does not disable the immobiliser so car will not start.

I have found a card (see below) in with the manual which covers the emergency procedure to start the car and bypass the immobiliser. I've have tried to follow the sequence of turning the ignition on and off the various times it lists which all seems to work OK but the immobiliser light on the dashboard still flashes at the end and the car will not start. I have tried leaving the key in after the final sequence of flashes, removing it and then reinserting but still no joy.

I asked the bloke in the dealers about it and he just looked at me blankly and said he didn't know.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Hi, there is no bypass code, this car should have an 8 digit code to program new key which may be stamped in service book, also the new key fob is blank and should be available off shelf or by 2 days at most, ask your dealer to recheck this.
