hi ya this is becoming a bit of a regular thing but im trying to get the word service light switched off.
at first i asumed it needed a service but then found out it has been recently been done, then came on here and found out that if the word service is lit up then there is a problem, but there are no other lights lit to say there is anything wrong.
and just a minute ago i rang renault in chichester and told them i had this service light on and they informed me that its means its due a service. i told them its been done recently and that the spanner was not flashing, and they insisted that it had not been reset properly, i then told them that i thourght if the word service if lit ment there was something wrong with engine etc and they said that was wrong, if the service word is lit then its due a service. now im confused can anyone tell me a definitive answer as i have only had the car not even a week and its beggining to wind me up.
if it is the case that on the last service they did not reset the service light properly can someone please tell me how to reset!!!!!!
I have checked everything under the bonnet.
As for lights there are no other lights on except the service word light. Any ideas on how to get rid of it
the service light usually comes on with another light to advise what needs servicing, you say you have only had the car a short while.
has the previous owner removed a bulb from one of the other warning lights or has a bulb blown from one of them.
yeah I have only had the car for under a week!!! As for lights nothing else has lit up it's just the word service. As for knowing if bulbs have blown or been taken out I'm not sure they all seem to be ok. I'm pulling my hair out!! I had my mate put it on the diog machine and there was no known faults so I know there is nothing wrong just annoying me that the word service is displayed all the time
Hi,have the tyre monitor system been switched off,if so this can cause the service light to stay on,try disconnecting battery for a couple of minutes .
That cant be right ?? I had the TPMS system disabled on my Lag II by Renault (using their CLIP computer) and the yellow service light wasnt permanently lit afterwards for me.
I don't no what to do. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect won't I loose the radio? I just say that because I don't think I have the code to put it back on??? Also because the sat nav screen is not working I won't be able to see what I'm inputting. Does no one know how to re-set the word service someone must know??? HELP!!!!
It may be worth checking all the bulbs are the correct wattage including the number plate bulbs. A high or low resistance in the lighting circuit may bring up a service light.
I have done it allready!! There really is no reason for it to be on!! Someone must of had the same problem? I just want to know what they done to resolve it
If the "Service" light is illuminated then the ECU must have detected a fault (albeit an erroneous one) and should be able to be read by an appropriate code reader.
Hi Dean, as I said earlier I have had this fault before when disconnecting the tpms but it only happens occasionally ,I don't know if the fault is with the instrument panel or the uch but I don't know what else to suggest .
I would love to disconnect the battery and see if that makes any difference but I have not got the code to turn the radio back on I also have no screen due to the sat nav being buggered!!!! Think I'm gong to have to bite the bullet and take it to renault and get the service light sorted
