Yes checked the wiring no apparent problems there.

Window opens now so power going to door anyway, so if its not earth or wiring what else could it be?

I am at a loss

if you are pressing the window switch and you side light are coming on i would say you had a short somewhere as the power for the window is backfeeding through the switch ilumination circuit puting the side lights on. Check the door shut wires again it sounds favourit
