scenic II wiper motor / linkage problem

Hi Guys,
last night the driver side wiper on my grand scenic stopped wiping. Passenger side still working fine, but had to drive home like Ace Ventura with my head out the window - gladly it was teaming with rain

Anyway, before I open up the motor for a look I was wondering if this is a common fault. (haven't looked yet as it's still pouring).

I can't find any specific thread with this issue but some similar threads suggest that once the linkage goes the motor needs replaced at a cost of 170 quid.

Can I fix this or do I need a new unit? Help much appreciated.

Hi there,
I'm sorry to read you have this issue, could I ask you the mileage of your vehicle and when you bought it?

Kind regards

Have you checked the linkage is still intact? I assumed that the wipers on the front run off of one motor, if only one sides failed it could be the linkage has failed!

just check the wiper arm has not come loose and may be it just needs tightening, If not sounds like likage, it it's popped of the ball it will need new one, not the hardest job in the world to do so long as you set up up right before you switch lem on or you will be wiping the bonnet ouch!!!!
