Clio Immobiler

i have a R reg Clio Panache. I have near enough broken my key and now the immobiliser works intemittently.

I have called Renault who have quoted me 170 for the key because of the built in immobiliser .

Is there anyway of deactivating the immobiliser so i can just get a normal key cut and still have my central locking and that.

Please help, not looking forward to spending 170 on a key.

Currently in Joanna's garage:

think your self lucky you have found a renault garage that will bother with a car of this age, there is no way round this key issue that i am aware of, there is copanys out there that will virginise the ecu so it wont need a code, but the cost of doing that pluss fitting and removal will probably cost more.
Your problem may be the infa red sensor by the rear view mirror, they can get wet through the ariel base leaking water onto it.
You can get the code frome your service book and sit there manually putting it in every time you wanted to start the car, not much good for a quick gataway.
