Renault Megane Alarm problem

hi my partner has a renault megane(migrain) cabriolet 1.6 8v 1997

The battery died so i took it off and got a new one but i cannot refit the battery without the alarm having a fit.

It has an alarm immob unit with the sounder next to the battery not through the horn i connect the battery as soon as i do the alarm goes off try resttingit with the fob and it locks and unlocks the doors but keeps sounding if i get in the car start the engine the alarm sounds but goes off after bout 10 seconds switch it off and off it goes again try using fob still wont switch off the led is indicating that the immob is not switch off any ideas hows to reset or stop it going off

Re: Renault Megane Alarm problem

It could be that the key is not synchronised to the imobiliser, that happens on my Citroen sometimes, I reset it by locking and unlocking the doors 3 times with the key, you may have to do something similair, hope that helps

The older I get the better I was, must be mad not got enough money to be excentric

Re: Renault Megane Alarm problem

Ok have been out in the freezing cold again tried the other key fob and that wont work tried locking unlocking triple unlocking double triple single unlocking and still nothing i started checking through the fuses found if i romoved fuse 15 the immob would go off car would start fine and all tickateboo but in removing that fuse im not sure if its knocked out anything else tried looking on wiring diagram but cant find it on there and to make it even more difficult the numbers on the fuse box are completely different to the numbers in the work shop manual
