Renault Clio Beam Conversion for Europe

Hi I hope someone is going to be able to help me. I have only had my clio a few months, and I am taking it to Europe at the end of this week. Its been to the dealer for the free 25 point check up before it goes abroad, but they never mentioned about the lights. On my old peugeot I used to stick electrical tape over a marked triangle on the headlights. There isnt a clearly marked triangle and there is nothing about converting it for Europe in my manual. Has anyone got any experience of converting clio headlights I can gleam from?

Hello rtl,welcome to the forum.

Some headlights can be changed internally to a European beam pattern, others have to be taped up.
To check the pattern on your car, turn the headlights on to dipped beam with the car in front of a wall(or simillar). You'll see that the pattern has a straight line that 'kicks up' to right. To change it,the kick up must go to the left or the pattern must be just a straight line. Not sure wether the Clios have switchable headlights(should be done on the back of the headlight or inside it where the bulb goes),but if they're not, then just mask the lense with insulation tape to give you a straight pattern(trial and error, really.Use a piece of cardboard as a pattern and move it over the lense to give to correct pattern. This will then indicate where to stick the tape).

Hope this helps.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
