I think this one catches out most Laguna II drivers first time around. I lent my previous car to a colleague who tended to leave his cars in gear - when I got in to drive home, the damned thing wouldn't start. Panic set in for a minute or two, and I was about to call the RAC when I realised what was going on.

With the handsfree card on my new car, you have to hold down the clutch or the brake to get it to start anyway. I tend to hold down the clutch.

LOL - wife phoned me up in a panic not long after we had our Laguna. It wont start, nothing happens etc etc.
She had left car in gear!

It is always good practice to start the car ( esp diesels) with the clutch depressed - it takes some of the strain off when starting.

I too have fallen victim to this feature. Luckly the first thing I did was to dip the clutch and wiggle the gear lever, thus realising it was in gear. It did make my heart stop though as my first thought was that it would be a trip to the dealer.

Still get momentarily caught out by it now and again!
