Laguna II Trip Computer

The trip computer on my Laguna II Phase I, has a bit of a quirk with the economy readings.
It shows the MPG in jumps, ie it only reads .... 47.8, 48.7, 49.5, 50.3... etc, it does not give readings for every 0.1 mpg.

It has been like this since I had the car.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I've always assumed it was because the trip computer works things out in km/l, then converts the figure to MPG if the car's configured for the UK market.

Having said that.... I've looked further into it, and 47.8 MPG translates to 16.92 km/l, 48.7 MPG is 17.24 km/l - not very rounded figures, either! Calculating it using US gallons isn't any better.

So the bottom line is, I haven't a clue!

At least you know there's nothing wrong with your trip computer, I suppose....

It is down to the metric conversion, only down to 1 decimal place.
So in dkmulvey's example, 16.92 would be displayed as 16.9.

We had a PIcasso that you could easily change between miles and km.
When we went to France the readings were nice and linears, i.e. went up in 0.1km increments for the fuel consumption. When we returned to UK and back to miles, we returned to the more erratic readings you talk about.

It is not a fault it is merely a "quirk" when converting between mpg and litres/100km. Even then there are a few small discrepancies.

I used to run a VW Passat Diesel and in the Manual it stated that readings/calculations were taken over a certain distance - so that consumption and other averages were measured per 30 meters, I believe it was. Might be something like that, as I notice the readings do vary.
