Scenic II - Rain / Light Sensor

I recently purchased a 2004 Grand Scenic 1.6 Expression.

It's a great car but got a couple of annoying issues as I cant get an intermittant wiper (it's either on constantly or off) or the auto lights to work.

After taking the sensor behind the rear view mirror apart I don't get any amber light or reaction when covering the sensors myself so believe this is where the fault is.

My hoepfully quick questions are:

1. With it being electrics is there a fuse that I should check first and if so where can I find it?

2. If there is no fuse should I assume the unit is faulty? If so it has a date stamped on it of 03.11.09 so what's the chance of being able to swap that with Renault as it's less than a year?

3. If I do get a new unit (either free swap or paying for it) then is it just a matter of removal and fitting the new one in place and connecting up?

Thank-you in advance for any help with this, I did search the forums and found where others had bought a unit and replaced to fix the problem but wanted to check things properly before I fork out £90ish.

I've still got this problem and HAVE tried a working sensor from my mother in laws car and it still does not work. I tried my sensor in her car and it works.
This definately looks like a fuse/electrical issue but the wires go in to the headlining of the roof and I can find no sign of a fuse.

Any pointers would be most welcome still.

Thanks

Past experience with light/wiper sensors has taught me that they need to be vacuum sealed to the windscreen for them to work correctly. The most common reason for them to stop working correctly is when a new windscreen is fitted and the sensor is refitted poorly.

I've definately got them as I can get to the sensor on the windscreen.

Also I've had to disable the autolights function as it just states "lights fault" when I have it on (presumably because there is no power to the sensor).

The windscreen wiper currently only works as a constant on (ie there is no time delay for light showers).
