What you have is instrument failure a well known fault which will set you back a 100.00 with Renault.

We had our hand brake updated recently, but it was working fine before. It was fine for about 2 months but now theres a warning on the dashboard about a handbrake fault. It still functions fine but the message will not go away and it make a buzzing noise everytime you start the car. I had my local mechanic re-check the rear brakes after having new pads and discs fitted a few weeks ago but they were fine. He plugged in the EOBD and it came up with 4 codes for the handbrake. 3 were soft codes and have been cleared but code 182 is a hard code and cannot be removed. the code reads "Redundant Brake On Switch Internal Electronic Error - Current".

Anyone had this before? Anyone know what it actually means? I really dont want to take it back to (robbing bast@rds) Renault if I can help it, as they might re-program the computer to tell me something else is wrong in 6 months time!!
Had my hand brake reprogrammed following the recall recently. At first it was fine, but I now get "Check parking brake" or "Parking Brake Fault -Stop" on dashboard display. It may be coincidence but I'm sure I'm not alone with this, I believe other people have had the same problem. Brakes and handbrake function fine- just passed MOT with flying colours. Dealer says problem does not relate to reprogramming but I've asked around and some people say it might need reprogramming again and others say I need a new module (500 plus fitting). Any suggestions welcome. Have you had a similar fault? Diagnostic machine at non-Renault garage reads " Redundant brake on switch internal electronic error - current" Nobody seems to know what this means when translated into English.

Re: scenic ll electric hand brake recall

Does anybody know which years are being recalled. I have just bought my 53 plate Scenic II from a dealer, so the old owner may have been contacted, not me.
