when i brought my clio 95 i didn't relise it was broken until i got it home, which isnt a major problem.
My boyfriend had a look at it for me and it has got water damage (god knows how that happened) and i was wondering what i have to do to replace it? Do i have to go to the main dealers and how much roughly it will be?

The receiver is just above the rear view mirror. The water has entered via the radio antenna base, and damaged the Diodes on the PCB..

You can go to your dealer and purchase a new receiver or get a used one from a scrap yard and fit it yourself..

BUT you MUST either replace the antenna base as well to stop it happening again or removed the old one and use some silicon sealent under it to cure the problem..

Hi Steph and a warm welcome to the forum. The water damage is V.common on the Clio, it comes in from either the sunroof or the arial.

With the sunroof open check that the 4 corner drain holes are clear from obstruction. If you pour some water in the sunroof surround it should come out in the front wheel arches, if blocked it can normally be cleaned out using thin wire like the wire used to hang net curtains.

If they are ok then check the base of the arial. This is a common area for leaks, to cure remove the centre console, pop out the courtesy light, IR reciever & sunroof controls and you'll see the torcx head screws that hold the console in place. Undo and put to one side and the console drops out. This gives access to the arial mounting bolt, undo and remove the arial and clean the roof around the arial hole. apply a thinish layer of clear bath sealant and refit the arial and console.

The IR reciever can, I belive be swapped for one from another (scrap) car and the key can be reprogrammed at home so main dealer not needed. There is a post on how to recode try a search using "Central locking" as a key word, I think it's a question of pointing the key at the reciever and clicking a certain amount of times but not to sure.

Any further problems just drop a post.
