Clio window regs

Hello chaps, or should I say, Bonjour mes amies!
I'm more of a Landrover bloke myself but am currently fixing the driver's window on Kate's (girlfriend's) Clio2 (hence the user name).
I've done a quick search and already found loads of useful gen so thanks to one and all, but....
When I buy a new regulator just how much of the door's guts do I get? I only ask as this seems to vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cable has mis-fed on the cable drum causing the motor to seize, but in addition the vertical guide has also suffered some damage, more specifically, the plastic clippy-onny cable guides top and bottom, and the actual clip that connects the cable to the glass itself - they're all in bits now. (God knows what she's been doing to it )
So is a replacement regulator just the motor and cable, and do I need to order the cable guide bar separately.
Thanks in advance,

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I'm not 100% sure what you get,but I suspect all the parts you need will come as one unit.

If you have a good local dealer(unfortunately they do vary in willingness to help out.....!!) you can go in and ask for a picture print out of all the parts in the window assembly, and from there you can decide which bits you need.I think that would be worth a try first.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Send a message via MSN to GeordieClio
E-bay have these on quite cheap and they have no plastic clips which break, their metal so they last longer than "standard" window mechanisms, Ask they ebay sellers for more information they generally know exactly what you need when it comes to stuff like this.

Hi Kate's Mechanic,
6 Weeks ago I changed the offside regulator on my sons 2001 Clio 2 door. He bought the regulator from and it cost about £65 and was a piece of urine to fit. It come has the whole unit complete with motor and cables and just bolted straight in. I had to change the electrical connections as the plug was different but it I am not the brainiest person but it took less than 30 mins to do once i had stripped the old one out.
Hope it helps
