Re: To buy a new car or not? Plus trading in with small problem.

Hmm, a question on morals and ethics.

There is a third option - since it doesn't seem to be ailing the car - keep it.

If you are keen to sell, rather than trading it in (which means that someone is left holding the baby - and if the roles were reversed, would you like that to be you?) - you could try one of those sites where they buy your car, or alternatively, put it to auction.

That way, there's no direct link between you as the previous owner, and the unfortunate person who becomes the next inheritor of your sick car.

I'm a great believer in karma, and since no-one should reasonably expect a car bought from auction to be 100% trouble/defect-free (whereas they would if it were bought from a dealer), then my conscience would be troubled far less, using this method of disposal.

It really comes down to what people can reasonably expect.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
