If you buy a detachable one and only fit it when you are actually towing, then it really doesn't matter which one you pick.

Simply because whatever you tow would be detected by the sensors, rather than the presence of the bar itself.

Some factory-fitted sensors have a button that disables them for this very reason, if one isn't present, I would reckon it's relatively easy to retro-fit one.
