It will be more than likely your speakers that are the problem.Volume 17 is quite loud - manufacturer fit speakers are not that good.Also the head unit is not that "high" powered so the amp is probably distorting. If you have the "cabasse" auditorium in either the Privilege or Initiale the speakers are better and the stereo higher powered - I am actually quite impressed with the sound quality for a Manufacturer std fit set up. Bass is adequate ( would like a bit more) and treble calrity is very good.

The first thing I would do would be to fit a decent set of speakers ( you don't have to spend masses of money) anything from Sony,Kenwood,Clarion etc etc will all be quite suitable. Also bear in mind that the doors do not make very good speaker enclosures - they rattle. You could fit some sound deadening material to inside of the door to help stop vibration.
