Hi there, the best bit of advice I can offer is to carry a tube of superglue in the car - when a chip occurs, apply a small amount to the centre of the chip - this will prevent dirt & water from entering (which can spoil the effectiveness of the repair), plus it should help to prevent it spreading. The repairer has to drill an access hole for injecting the resin - so you are actually helping to make his job a bit easier.
