The navigation controls are completely separate from the stereo on the Laguna II. On all but the latest models, the control panel occupies the spare DIN-E slot above the stereo. Only the display is shared, and I would imagine that the full colour display simply emulates the functions of the standard display as far as the stereo is concerned.

The Cabasse unit in the L2 Privilege isn't bad, but you'll get a better unit and probably save a few bob if you buy a reputable alternative. Many of the main contenders have the option of interfacing to the car's remote (though you'll normally have to pay a bit extra for an interface box) and some will even interface with the display. By all means get a quote from Renault, but ask around a few ICE specialists too before committing to the Renault option.
