You could try an "old engineers" stethoscope. No Cost !!
Take a really long screwdriver, rest the handle against the bony part just in front of your ear. Rest the sharp end as close to the suspect area as possible, spin the hub. Any rumble, etc will be heard. Used this to identify a dodgy idler recently.
FFS be careful if using this technique in future, say on a running engine.
