Clio performance

I have a Clio Classic Tribox 2004 1.4 16v automatic.

When I get the chance I like to see what it is capable of. But what then do I compare it with since my experience of cars is quite small?

For example, over several trials, travelling at 140km/hr with aircon on but only me and no extra load (a little over 4 thou rpm) and going up the ramp of an overpass ie moderate incline maybe 1:10m, I am able to maintain speed with slight depression of the accelerator but cannot increase speed with pedal to the floor.

What does that indicate about performance, can anyone comment? Is it what I should expect or is it less?

By answering you would not be condoning my driving behaviour!
