Smile Re: grand scenic parking brake fault

Hi I have recently had a similar problem with my 55 plate grand , my hand brake also failed completely.
After seeing the prices of a new hand brake I decided to try and repair my self.
First of all I tried to reset the hand brake by pulling the release handle in the boot and then following on with the reset procedure, all I heard was a loud wining noise then nothing.

I then proceeded to pull the casing off the electric motor and tested the motor incase it had burnt out but it was ok.
On inspection of the PCB I noticed the OMRON 12v DC RELAY had melted slightly on the top.
After a bit of internet searching I found a replacement relay and changed it, not the easiest job iv done.
The hand brake is now working fine and all I need to do now is get the message removed from the dash.
