Re: Diesel Engines and Supermarket Fuel

Never had a problem with supermarket fuel, they have to supply fuel at a specified standard which meet the same standard as the mainstream garages. A friend who has a relative says that some of the fuel comes from the same bulk store anyway and it's sold to the stores at the same price as the big names.

The only time I did have a problem was from a main brand and I was one of about a dozen drivers who had the same problem of contaminated fuel from the same tank. The supplier paid for the fuel service on my car as it was proven that it came from them.

I certainly wouldn't run my dci on veg oil .

What I do is put a bottle of fuel system cleaner in every 10000 miles (every oil change) or so which cleans the injectors and other components and generally I get 1-2 mpg improvement for a while.
