A friend a consultant in the fuel industry tells me the basic fuel is all the same but the additive pack added as the tanker is loaded differs from customer to customer.
Did some work in a major refinery years ago and sat there and watched all the branded lorries being filled from the same point.
I've ran supermarket fuel for hundreds of thousands of miles without a problem. Any garage can dish out poor fuel if they allow the tanks to run near empty without proper maintenance.
