Megane MK3 handbrake

I tried to raise this thread yesterday so if this is a duplicate then apologies.....

I have a Megane Mk3 Coupe (2011). Love the car, hate the handbrake lever.

The last third of the lever is bent towards the passenger side of the car (i.e. making it more suitable for Left hand driving position) and genuinely looks to be an over sight when designing the right hand drive version of the car. This makes using the handbrake awkward and means I am always catching my knuckles on the passenger seat.

Has anyone else tried to resolve this by either "re-bending" the existing handbrake back over towards the driver or produced a right-hand driver version of the handbrake?
