The Laguna II has had its fair share of reliability problems. The 1.9dci in particular with turbo related faults. Most were for the early Lag II models, by late 2003 Renault had sorted the majority of common failings, except it appears the window regulators, they are still a weakpoint!
That said, as yours is a late 03 model it will have the modified intercooler fitted as standard. Renault also initially specified the "wrong" oil spec - they now specify fully synthetic 5w/40. Most problems were due to 18k between services being too long. Most people and even Renault themselves specify 9k for oil changes.
SOme people will slag it off and say don't buy it, sell it etc. Forums aren't usually full of people saying how good their car is.
THe Lag is a great car, let down by some poor dealers and niggly French electronics. No car will be perfect, no matter how much you buy it for or what make it is.
We have had several Renaults and all have been reliable. Our Lag 1.9dci is a great car, that has been faultless in the 2yrs we have had it. We would certainly consider another one, the only thing that may stop us is that I usually wont a change, buying another Lag wouldn't seem like getting a new car!
