If you alter the tyre size on the same size rims (18) you'll yuk with the gearing, knocking out speedo accuracy is one trade off and the very last thing I'd want to do is make the car look like some kinda SUV cross-over.

You're right it has the 4WS system, so again getting sensible answers from Renault seems like a big ask. That said, I can't see how a drop would affect the 4WS, but I could see how a widened rear track of larger rimed wheels would. Can you imagine oversteer on a 4WS system? it would be like the rear end is on skates.

An alternative is to change the colour of the wheels to black which gives the illusion of filling the arches, as there's no definitive end/start to wheel and tyre.

I'd love to get an expert opinion though on the rear track width question though, and what it would do to the handling of a 4WS system.
