I understand that the dealers cannot keep everything in stock.

What makes it worse is their attitude.

Recently, my 'check esp' light cam on. Rang my local dealer. They said they could try and reset it and see if it goes away.

Booked a morning off from work to take the car there - they didn't even look at the car and said it was a major problem and would have to be booked in for 1-2 days.

What a waste of time - I'm self-employed and this sort of attitude costs me real money.

The car was booked in again. First day, they did nothing (in my opinion). Second day, they had a look at the car and ordered the necessary parts. Rang me to say they needed the car for a third day.

They should have looked at and ordered the parts on the first day!!

On the third day, the car still wan't ready. I had told them beforehand that I needed my car by this time.

They promised to get it ready for the next day. I had to cut my holiday short. The service manager apologised profusely (what else could he do) and promised to offer me a free service, etc.

Once I got the car back, nothing came of the empty promises.

At least the fault went away.

So, lack of part is not the main issue - it's the damn dealers.
