Haven't bought yet - need to convince myself on compatibility.
But Autotrader pulled up a lot of results

A lot of them say "Hatchback" and the estate version says it is not opening glass.
So next step is to check with Renault to see if any of the components (motor and/or "linkage thingy") are common to both options.
Crazy money for a new parts, I agree.
Second hand motor looks like it'll be 40 to 100 quid.
One thing Renault did tell me, was to check the relay was functioning, cos there was an outside chance the siezed arm might have tripped the relay rather than having burnt the motor.
Clutching at straws, but worth a try (if only I can find out how to do a check !! )

If i find anything out I'll post - hopefully others might too.

My last resort, btw, will be to try and source stuff from France (either over internet or when holidaying this summer) where, of course, these cars are plentiful.
If anyone else fancies trying, the search terms would be:
moteur essuie-glace arriere
Currently in davidlp's garage:
2002 (52) 2.0 Tourer (estate)
