I am always dubious when being told brake pads need replacing etc. Once I had a service at a dealer and they told me the pads were 70% worn and it was worth getting them replaced (and why not do the discs). However I left it and when getting the front tyres changed the tyre garage thought they had plenty. Anyway about a year later I had another service at that same dealer and they reported the pads to be 60 % worn.

Amazing in one year the pads had increased there thickness by 10%. I did'nt take them up on it - I guess I was just pleased the pads still did'nt need replacing just yet.
