Normally, yes! But a crack in the block or head could do the same. As there's no evidence of a badly warped head or a failed gasket, I didn't want to pay to have it done, then find the problem wasn't cured. At the moment I only owe the garage for removing the head! A replacement engine might be a better bet, if I can find one that's suitable.
