Am I correct in thinking that I should wait for the orange immobiliser light to go out before trying to start ?

i have already checked the receiver unit in roof, here in Italy there is not much rain so all seems bone dry and clean.
i have seen a post about the fact that the central locking range is very short so that seems normal, but if I started to use the key to unlock would I still need to push the plip thing to disengage the immobiliser or does the imob not need the button pushing and works on the fact the key is nearby??.

Damn electrics, wish I'd studied them at school , also wish I still had my old Triumph Herald 1964, only one fuse in whole car, you knew the problem area when that did'nt start, the flames told you exactly where to look !!
