I'd check out the rear brakes first - in case its sticking
I'm glad you said that mad as that's what my first thought was. I have noticed that all 4 discs are quite worn and thought it may have something to do with that.
I have not been too concerned with the noise thus far as I am intending on getting all discs and pads replaced in the next week or two and the noise has definately not got any worse in the past three - four weeks.
Here's hoping that the brakes are indeed the cause of the groan. If they're not, then there will be more than the car groaning
