Clio mk2 ph2 immobiliser

Hi just signed up as after searching Google this seems to be the most knowledgable site on Renaults. Unfortunetly I couldn't find an answer through searching so hopefully someone can help.
I have just came back from 2 weeks on holiday and went to start my car but the red immobiliser light is staying on and the car is cranking over but nothing else. The battery in the key had gone flat but having replaced it now the central locking works but it still won't start. I've also checked the battery which had more than enough power to start it.
I have read that there might be some sort of procedure to reset the immobiliser, I have searched the FAQ's but this only explained how to reset the central locking.
Please if anybody had any ideas I would be very grateful.
Someone mentioned there is a procedure in the car manual but I don't have one so if anybody could confirm this it would be good.
