Yeh, the 2 button key card is bonkers on the Espace! It's like they just completely designed it upside down.

I need to change a couple of the microswitch buttons and will replace the batteries while I am at at so will check where it is safe to drill. I'm an electronics engineer by profession so the soldering is not a problem. Incidently the dry joints you talk about tends to be on the coil which is uses to transfer the immobiliser data when it is pushed into the slot - easy repair if you have a soldering iron.

The battery terminal contacts can crack as well so worth going over those. You can buy a new keycard housing complete with switches and battery from Ebay for 7.49 here...

Good if you make a mess cutting your old ones open.

Interested in hearing more on the battery disconnect / reconnect procedure. Can you expand?
