Re: Just bought a 58 plate Espace Quest 2.0l 16V...few questions.

Thanks for the battery stuff. I am intrigued about putting the side lights on after reconnecting the battery - anybody know why that is neccessary?
So was I, I can only think someone got it reversed. I reckon it should read to turn the sidelights first, to apply a small load to reduce spikes. As you are well aware, computers need a constant error free voltage.
Still haven't found any reference to any official Renault advice.
To tell the full story, bought car needing work, NO OBD faults. Did rear window Temic unit, cambelt, waterpump, oil , plugs & filters etc in January. Still OK, tested a bit. Sorted sunroof & a few other niggles. As battery had been flattened a few times at the selling garage (they had to jump it when I went to view), I didn't trust it for SWMBO use, especially in winter. Changed it just before putting car on the road.
That's when I got the EPB nag & 17 other faults stored.
Cost me 7 for a CanBus compatible interface (VAG K L would you believe) & found the DDT2000 software on line. Been somewhat ana,l about battery connecting ever since.
