Re: Scenic II Handbrake Failing?

I have read through that post and all the links that were within but nothing really covered my question. I have the short wheel base scenic so my cables are not directly connected into the motor. Instead there is a sliding plate that sits in the centre rear of the car that the two cables are connected to. Its this plate that seems to have seized up.

I was just going to clean it up but i'm not sure if it should be a lubricated part as it is exposed to the elements and hence, any dirt that gets in there will simply stick to any product I use. I can't seem to find any pictures of a fresh one being installed.

I'll just clean it up first and see what sort of friction it has when moving. Its won't heat up or move all that often so maybe no product on it will be ok.
