There are lots of other threads. Search for EPB, like I did. I chose that one for the piiccy's. Seems yours is different to mine too, I have two cables from my EPB.
As for your plate vs lubrication. Tis difficult, I would try dry lube like the cyclists use on chains.
For the cables, perhaps WD40 to wash them through. but NOT spray grease as they are Nylon lined & grease makes em stick.
If you can some piccy's would help? May help someone in the future with a similar set up.
I don't envy you doing it in this weather.
