Can't tell you exactly how to release it, sorry.
However, I believe the screw is driven such that each end has an opposing thread. So one side is lefthand, t'other is righthand threaded. Essentially, in applying brake the screw tries to pull the inners towards each other.
Hopefully, knowing this will allow you to decide which way to apply brute force to release the offending rod.
