However, I believe the screw is driven such that each end has an opposing thread. So one side is lefthand, t'other is righthand threaded. Essentially, in applying brake the screw tries to pull the inners towards each other.
Hopefully, knowing this will allow you to decide which way to apply brute force to release the offending rod.

I released it using a screwdriver placed on the spines of the screw and then tapping the screwdriver with a hammer. The screw has left hand threads.
