As promised i have been out and checked the door mirror switch,it is a 3 position joystick i.e. n/s mirror, off, offside mirror and yes it is live when ignition is off.

Sporty with regard to your Renault service centre being unaware of a problem with door mirror adjusting switches that is good news as it would tell me it is a rare occurance.

(Maybe give them the address of this forum to keep up to date with his customers).

Now i could be wrong but as far as i can see to catch fire two states need to be met,one the switch would need to be in the adjust mirror position and two the joystick would need to be pushed and held off centre.

The safest way to use the switch would be adjust the required mirror then leave it in the centre position

Any more thoughts?
