I think I'll defiantly go for the 1.6 with the extra weight there's not even a road tax advantage in the 1.4. Our car slogs around on short runs mainly so I think I've ruled out the diesels? I like you have a lot of faith in the K4 engine, mine has 150K on it and runs as well if not better than the day we bought it last mot returned almost nil hydrocarbons. I am a stickler for 6000 mile oil changes though!!

Just on the dephaser pulley is this something to do with the Variable valve timing? Is the post 2006 a better pulley? Also what is the give away of a duff pulley?
