Hi Peanut it is common practice to remove the valve core when removing a tyre as failure to do so can cause damge to the tyre, rim or worse still the sensor itself Additionally it is also for the safety of the fitter. The tyre sensors are prone to corrosion both externally and externally - it is a distinct possibility your sensor/s is beginning to corrode and the valve is beginning to leak. If a tyre fitter failed to remove the core and damaged a perfectly good good tyre whilst fixing a puncture I've no doubt the customer would have something to say.
