Grrr bloody starter motors!

Just to update - We have picked up a new starter motor today and guess what, being 2nd hand appears to be faulty!

The brand new we burn out yesterday got put on test bench and found that if you didnt connect the main high current feed and only earthed the casing and connected the solenoid cable it fired fine but also tried to turn over the motor as well. I presume the contactor has burnt out and is shorting to the motor windings or something?

Gonna get another new starter tomorrow and that will hopefully fix it.

One thing I have noticed is that the TDC sensor is directly below the thermostat housing hence when we emptied the water it poured directly onto this sensor - would this cause the problems with starting? what exactly does the TDC sensor do?
