Just a thought, but why not ring up the county council for the area you were driving through, ask for the highways department and tell them what happened? You may find that if you can provide specific details of where and when the incident took place, they'll be prepared to sort out repairs for you.
Of course they may well deny all knowledge. But it has to be worth a try. After all, it's their negligence that's left you with this mess in the first place.
This thought did cross my mind but seriously! Do you really think they would give a hoot? These would be the same councils and local departments all over the country that has the poorest roads covered in pot holes etc but will spend thousands resurfacing the access road and car park to their council headquater offices twice a year
So they don't damage their Audi A8's and BMW 5 Series company cars!!!!!!
