Hi there mate, I'm no electrician, but I would suspect (from what you've said) that the fault is with your hazard light switch - it may be a loose/bad connection or broken wire.

If it looks straightforward enough to remove, I'd be tempted to extract it (careful not to let the wires fall into the dash), and have a look around - it may even be something like juice being spilled over it.
