Re: Should a Convertible drivers window slightly drop to open door ?

1)I recently purchased an audi TT mk1(2003).
Tho not a convertible,it has no upper doorframe.Ie the window upper edge is the upper edge of the door.
If the window is fully up,when the door is opened it should drop 5 mm on opening. Then on closing the window should wind up the 5 mm or so to the seal.

2)The passenger side on mine did that, drivers side didnt (cos it got more wear).

3)soln was to disassemble doorlock which has a microswitch, the microswitch rubber cover was worn so a strip from ye olde flora margarine tub, held in place by microswitch clamp solved the problem.

If your passenger side works ok..see what mechanism energises the window up down thing and repair the d/s..mho

Currently in coup's garage:
RM III coupe 1.5dci FVT,Audi TT Mk1 ,a bike and too much rubbish.
