clio head replacement

hi guys, just had cambelt snap on my clio.just fitted new cambelt and hoped for a miracle, but valves must be bent as engine will not start. i am going to have a go at replacing the valves and i was wondering whether the earlier type 1.2 clio engine would have the same head. my clio is last of the older shape on a r reg.i have a good 1.2 cylinder head from a L reg car.would i be able to use this head or even the valves out of this head? cheers

I Recently did a head gasket on a Mk1 clio with a 1.2 8 valve engine in and it is the same as the "newer" 1.2 8valve engines.

The only difference i noticed was the engine mount was slightly different to the 1998 model (Mk2 phase 1 i beleive)

But if, as you say, yours in the last of the R reg im assuming its a mk1 so it should fit straight on.
